Mosquitoes are a common nuisance in Costa Rica, especially in the Nicoya Peninsula. The warm and humid climate provides the perfect breeding ground for these pesky insects. Mosquitoes are not only bothersome but also pose a health risk due to the transmission of various diseases.

One of the most concerning mosquito-borne diseases in Costa Rica is dengue fever. This viral infection is spread through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes. Symptoms of dengue fever include high fever, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, and in some cases, hemorrhagic fever which can be fatal if left untreated.
